Supporters:

The nation’s capitol is abuzz with activity on clean energy, climate change and green jobs.  Be part of the action.

Local governments have been implementing innovative solutions that improve energy efficiency, reduce energy use, curb greenhouse gas emissions and create jobs.

However, federal policies must empower local governments with the tools, incentives and resources needed to continue that leadership and success.  Local government leaders must urge Congress to (1) provide funding for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG), the Climate Showcase Communities program, the HUD-DOT-EPA Sustainable Communities initiative, and other important programs that support local clean energy and climate change action; (2) pass clean energy legislation that includes resources for local governments; and (3) shift resources in transportation reauthorization legislation from state highway projects to local transit and VMT reduction initiatives.

On May 24-26, 2010, Climate Communities is convening the nation’s top city and county leaders from across America to:

  • Meet with key Obama Administration, Congressional and federal agency decision-makers;

  • Help develop federal policies that support your local clean energy and climate initiatives; and

  • Network with peers from across the country.
